Congratulations to F/Cpl Vallance who represented 197 Squadron well at the Wing 6 Regional Effective Speaking Competition in Barrie.
Regional winner was Sgt Lu from 253 Sqn, runner up F/Sgt Crook from 242 Sqn.
Our 197 Air Cadets took a 5 Day trip during March Break to Washington DC USA and will be visiting many interesting places including: National Monument, Arlington Cemetery, Capital Building, National Museums, Basketball Game (Wizards vs Magic), a behind the scenes tour of NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center and much more.
Today, the 197 Acton Air Cadet Squadron sends out a BIG Thank You, to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 197 for their generous donation to our squadron!
The 197 Annual Bottle Drive was a great success!
Thank you so much to the people of the town of Acton for donating your empty bottles and cans again this year. The proceeds of our Bottle Drive go directly to supporting your local Air Cadet squadron and are used to help pay for items, such as cadet fees, bus fees to our events (such as gliding), class materials and so forth. It is through your generosity that we can continue to bring the Air Cadet program to the youth of Acton and Rockwood.
Our sincere “Thank You” and our gratitude to all the residents who donated! A big Thank You to the cadets and their parents for all their help, you make this event!

On November 11, at the going down of the sun, communities across Canada marked the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War with the ringing of 100 bells.
The bells rang at Parliament Hill, city halls, places of worship, military bases, Naval vessels and at ceremonies across the country to honour Canada’s Veterans and commemorate the end of the First World War.
Your 197 Air Cadets were hounored to participate and to be a part of the candle light ceremony which followed the bells.
November 11th 2018 at the 11th hour and the 11th minute, we Honour and Remember the lives and sacrifices of our Veterans and Fallen this year, which marks 100 years since the signing of the armistice.
