On November 5, 2024, we held our CO Parade and celebrated many cadets and officers’ hard work and dedication in 197 Typhoon Squadron! ๐
ย Congratulations to:
- AC Damasi was promoted to Leading Air Cadet.
- WO2 Walton was promoted to Warrant Officer Class 1.
- WO2 Walton received their Bar for 5 Years of Service.
- FSgt Fong, FSgt Pissarourk, and FSgt Westerlaken-Burge were each awarded the Long Service Medal.
We also honoured our officers for their dedication:
- Second Lt Toth received their Commissioning Scroll.
- Captain B Dobbs and Captain R Dobbs received their Canadian Forces Decoration.

2024 Remembrance Day Service
November 11, 2024, at the 11th hour, cadets from 197 Typhoon Squadron – WO1 Walton, FSgt Westerlaken-Burge, Sgt Walton, and Cdt Svilans – stood guard at the Acton Cenotaph. They stood in silence to honour and remember the brave people who served and sacrificed for our country.
By standing guard, these cadets showed respect and reminded everyone of the importance of remembering those who fought for the freedoms we have today. Thank you to these cadets for representing the squadron with pride and honour.

On Saturday October 26, Sunday October 27 and Saturday November 2, the 197 Typhoon Squadron Air Cadets were out in the Acton community supporting the Acton Legion Branch 197 with their annual Poppy campaign.

On September 28-29, 2024, our New cadets from the 197 Typhoon Squadron started their journey with an amazing Field Training Exercise (FTX)! Together, the 197 typhoon squadron embraced the great outdoors, honed our skills, and fostered teamwork and camaraderie. From navigating the trails to learning essential survival techniques, our cadets made a fantastic start to their adventure. Hereโs to many more great memories ahead! ๐โจ
